Skiing

We're back safe and sound from skiing!

Conditions were icy, but it was still a lot of fun! And no one got hurt, which is always great!

Switcheroo!

Dan is off to work!

Dan has been picking up T.A. sub jobs, which he seems to be enjoying! It's not too stressful of a job, and he's really great with the kids!

So I've had a couple days to myself this week. First thing in the morning, I think I'm going to be a domestic rockstar and get all sorts of magical things accomplished.

Then I don't.

I have to admit, I think Daniel is better at taking care of things around here than I am. You can ask my mother, never in my life have I had the clean and tidy gene that many women have.

Maybe next week I'll get things done...

Winter Fun

It's been a long, cold winter. And there is still a lot of winter left to go!

Last week, we bought Layla some wonderful new skates! She is was so excited! She has been patiently waiting for new skates since she grew out of her smaller set almost two years ago!

So after we picked her up from school, we headed straight over to the free public skating at the arena!

Layla and I were both pretty rusty and it took us a few laps to try to regain some confidence on the ice. I was blown away by Daniel though, he is very skilled on ice skates!

Here is a picture of Layla and Daniel ready to race across the rink!

It is so nice to find ways to have some fun during a long winter and break up the regular routine! It is also so nice when we find things we can all enjoy together! (as we found out that Daniel is not a fan of family swim time!)

Daniel and I are also excited for some more winter fun tomorrow. Layla will be with her dad, but we're going skiing/snowboarding with the Church YM/YW tomorrow night!

Daniel is a snowboarder, and I am a skier. But we both love hitting the slopes, so it should be a great time! We've only been once before together. We went to a little hill just out of town a couple of weekends ago with my Aunt and cousin. My cousin Teigan wanted snowboarding lessons from Daniel, but it ended up that she had already grown out of her snowboarding boots! So Dan just snowboarded by himself most of the day.

Tomorrow, however, he will be in good company as most of the Young Men and some of their leaders are boarders!

Here is Daniel: conquering the hill!

Getting to Know Dan

This is my handsome husband. I love him very much.

One of my favourite things about being married is that we get to spend so much time together now. And with spending that much time together, I love when we have little moments of learning about each other things that we didn't know before. Especially things that don't come up in regular conversations. Things that you can only learn by being together and experiencing things together and talking together.

For instance, I was thrilled to learn over the weekend that my dear husband knows all the words to the song 'Eternal Flame' by The Bangles. It's a song I love and always makes me happy and I need to sing along to. Little did I know that Daniel also gets excited for this song and knows all the words!

During fun moments of discovery like this (we especially had a lot during our dating/engagement time) we like to cheers that we are indeed: Soulmates!

Now that we're married though, we also like to throw in a left-handed wedding ring 'pound'.

Later in the weekend, I also discovered that Daniel has never, ever, in his life eaten relish. Are you kidding me? I've been crazy for that stuff my entire life! It's chopped up pickles after all! Who doesn't love pickles!? (besides Layla!) So he had a big moment on Sunday night when had added some relish onto his hot dog. And he liked it!

It's so fun to share big and little moments!

Who knows what else I learn about him next!
