A Day of Science

A couple weeks ago, we all decided to have an adventure on a Friday where we had nothing else to do. So we chose to head on up to the Telus World of Science in Edmonton to enjoy some quality family time together.

If you happen to go, maybe don't lick the nose of the ice lion out front. I have a feeling that you won't be the only one to do so.

These are Layla's veins and arteries. They really are red and blue, just like in the textbooks! It's strange how Layla grew so tall though...

This is Daniel's digestive tract. As you can see, it's pink and healthy. However, he was quite greedy with his ice cream serving size. He'll never eat it all before it melts. That's sad.

This is Dan's idea of a useful public service announcement. He would love it if he could shout this fact from the rooftops. And now you're in the know.

Layla gets a picture taken on this tongue every time we come to the Science Centre. As you can tell from the tastebuds getting worn off, they've had this exhibit for a long time. This and the crime scene one. I really wish they'd update them. That, or maybe we just come to the Science Centre more often than most people do...

This is my handsome husband, looking like he belongs on an episode of Star Trek. However, we were only in the Star Theatre room, not on the Starship Enterprise. We watched 'Tales of the Maya Skies'. We do not recommend it. It didn't answer anything. We were quite disappointed.

The chairs were super comfy and could lean way back. I'm sure I would have fallen asleep, if I hadn't had the unfortunate luck of having a very overweight family sit behind me that smelled like dirty human. Have you had the unfortunate occurrence of knowing what smell I mean? It's very hard to relax when your nostrils are burning from fermented body odor.

The Science Centre has also had this interactive display FOREVER, but I don't mind, because it's quite fun. I remember building houses out of the foam igloo blocks as a kid.

Daniel had thought about being a Police Officer for some time. So he couldn't resist the urge to try out the police motorcycle on display. He's pretty intimidating, isn't he?
